Artist’s Statement 2026

My studio practice explores sensory colour, shape, and form, driven by a curiosity to orchestrate and amplify an enigmatic, shifting expanse of colour. The work develops through a sketchbook process of geometric coloured-pencil drawings that operate as a filtering system of modular grids, flow charts, and diagrammatic structures. These draw upon ever-present visual systems—graphics, data, interfaces—suggesting the sensory press of a button or the touch of a screen. Circuit boards and conductive pathways of colour and energy become recurring visual references.

The paintings bridge past and present, connecting traditions of abstract painting and 20th-century modernism with a distinctly digital, contemporary aesthetic. At their core is a fascination with the joy, wonder, and physicality of painting, and with colour as an active, emotive force.

Through the manipulation of space, perspective, and compositional rhythm, fields and flows of colour emerge, charged with a primal, internal pulse. These shifting configurations confront and connect with the viewer, inviting contemplation while drawing them into the work’s energetic field. By merging analogue and digital sensibilities, geometry and abstraction, the paintings form an intangible conduit of dynamic compositions and chromatic sensations—suggesting motion, pulse, and a poetic, nuanced visual code.
